Urban Chic

Flowing lines, softer shoulders and a sportier and an edgier look are among the key elements in Roberto Diz’s Spring/Summer 2020 Collection.

According to the designer, the collection pays homage to the traditions and culture of Portugal and its most picturesque regions.

Fusing 1950s elegance with folklore and traditional clothing, Diz recreates classic cuts in natural fabrics. The filigree motif in the garments is echoed in the long earrings with cross pendants.

Ode to Venus

Juan Vidal pays homage to Venus in his Spring/Summer 2020 Collection. The garments – linen, organza, tulle and cotton poplin – are either embroidered or adorned with grapes, which are suggestive of the paintings by Michelangelo, or prints taken from Raphael’s frescoes, according to the designer.

Completing Vidal’s Spring/Summer look are long chain necklaces with pendants and earrings in fish motif – which, Vidal shared, were used in ancient Rome for the entertainment and courtship of high society – and hair ornaments and bracelets resembling wheat stalks.

Marine Beauty

Women’s fashion design company Ailanto, created by twin brothers Iñaki and Aitor Muñoz, is embracing the sea theme in its Spring/Summer 2020 Collection.

Inspired by the still life painting genre of the 18th century, the collection is replete with marine life prints – from seahorses and starfish to pearls and coral.

The same theme was also incorporated in the accessories that hit the runway: Pearl necklaces with shell pendants, coral hair ornaments and even body jewellery made of pearls and coral.

Simple Pleasures

Streetwear just got more exciting with the launch of Agatha Ruiz de la Prada’s Spring/Summer 2020 Collection. The multi-awarded Spain-based designer gave her refreshing take on athleisure fashion, using materials such as cottons, neoprenes, lycras, foam, lurex, terry cloth and fluorescent fabrics with velvets, silk organzas and metallic garments to create a look that is distinctly hers.

The colours are dazzling as always, from radiant yellows and shocking pinks to rich oranges and deep blues. As a treat to her fans, Agatha created exclusive and branded ¡HOLA! “peineta” (decorative comb) for the collection. Also striking are duffel bags and hand bags in psychedelic colours, and all sporting the designer’s signature heart motif.

The collection’s ebullience – that of finding delight in simple things – is echoed in some of the creations launched by major manufacturers and designers at SEASONS in March – the new brand identity of Asia’s Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fairs portfolio, one of the leading international sourcing events in the industry.

Tropical Bliss

Costa Rica’s lush rainforests and exotic flora and fauna are the inspiration behind designer Juan Duyos’ Spring/Summer 2020 Collection. The colour palette is dominated by vivid greens, hypnotic blues, and swathes of pinks, reds and oranges. Dresses and tops in flowing chiffon, plain or adorned with sequins and blooms, are among Duyos’ many standout garments. Headdresses, long earrings and gold accents complete his Spring/Summer look.

One may capture this tropical and luxe vibe by donning accessories with gold accents and floral centrepieces. Stackable bracelets, chunky necklaces and shoulder-duster earrings are wardrobe staples that can add just the right amount of glam to any ensemble.
